English Proficiency I & II
English I and English II Proficiency are full-year courses designed to remediate high school students in grades nine and ten in basic language skills that are essential to pass the New Jersey State High School Proficiency Assessment. These courses will also instruct high school students in developmental language skills to be successful in all high school subjects.
The remedial sections of each course will improve skills in those areas identified on the NJHSPA – (Reading Comprehension/Vocabulary, Study Skills, and Writing/Editing) and may be more specifically described in an Individual Student Instructional Program.
The development sections of each course will improve grammar and usage skills, literature skills, oral expression skills, and additional vocabulary skills.
